Below is some of the activities the Troop participated in 2004

 

Pharoah Lake Backpacking (October 23-24, 2004)


Eleven Scouts and four adults hiked to Rock Pond in the Pharoah Lake Wilderness area of the Adirondacks. We camped overnight then hiked up Treadway Mountain on the way back to the cars making the whole trip about 9 miles. Pictures

International Brotherhood Camporee (September 26, 2004)


On September 24, 25 and 26 ten members of Troop 45 joined thousands of other Scouts at Wellesley Island State Park in the Thousand Islands. We traded patches, did archery and axe throwing, inspected a Black Hawk helicopter and enjoyed an outdoor concert and light show. Pictures

Summer Camp 2004 (July 25-30, 2004)


Twenty-nine Scouts spent the week working on Merit Badges from Leatherworking to Wilderness Survival. The first year campers went on an overnight backpacking trip. Troop 45 won first place in the scavanger hunt, one of our Scouts won second place in the chess tournament, and another was top archer for the week. Pictures

Backpacking to Echo Lake 


June 2004, Twelve Scouts and six adults carried all our gear almost five miles to camp on the shore of Echo Lake in the Catskill Mountains of southern Greene County. It was a beautiful spot and we had it all to ourselves. The weather was overcast, but at least it only rained a little on Saturday afternoon after camp was set up. Pictures

Reppelling at the Sundance Tower

On Sunday May 9th 2004  15 Boy Scouts and 8 leaders  learned basic rappelling at the tower in Phoenica N.Y.  Instructor Tom Crucet did a great job of teaching our young scouts in rappelling from a 40 foot tower. Pictures.

 

Spring Camp-o-ree 2004  Tri-Mount

Sixteen Scouts and 6 adults learned all about how the NY Department of Conservation conducts a search and rescue operation. The weather was great for camping out both nights and everyone had a great time.  Pictures

Map and Compass Day 2004

Ten Scouts and four adults spent the day at Camp Tri-Mount learning how to use a map and compass to find our way in the wilderness. Pictures

 

 Scout Show 2004

We took our display about Scouting in Other Countries to the Rip Van Winkle Scout Show in Kingston on Saturday.  Five Scouts helped teach visitors how wide spread the World Scouting movement actually is and yet how similar Scouting units are.  We won a blue ribbon for our efforts.  Pictures

Pepsi Arena Sleep Over 2004

Twenty-one Scouts and eight adults saw a hockey game, had some free ice time, played carnival games and watched a movie on the big screen over the ice.  Then they spent the night on the floor with hundreds of other Scouts.  Pictures

 

 

Albany Rock Climbing Gym

Members of Troop 45 traveled to Albany with a local High Adventure Crew 1507 to spend some time at a climbing and caving gym.  Pictures

Winter Camp 2004

We arrived at Camp Boyhaven in Saratoga County on Friday afternoon and stayed to Sunday noon.  The weather was perfect and the snow was great.  It was the most productive winter camp we have had in a long time.  We did fire safety, camp stove use, and a compass course in addition to the usual sledding, man-hunt and card games.  Pictures

 

 

Klondike Derby 2004

On Saturday January 24th the Klondike Derby was held at Camp Tri-Mount. Troop 45 entered two teams in this event.  Eleven Scouts took two sleds around Camp Tri-Mount to stations where they competed in such events as First Aid, Fire Building, Map and Compass, Ice Rescue, Sled Racing and Logistics.  It was a very cold but beautiful day.  Pictures
