Sugarloaf Mountain (3847')

Mink Hollow Tail (blue)

sugarloaf.jpg (8975 bytes) Sugarloaf is a peak in the middle of the Devil's Path.  It is a steep and difficult climb from either side.  Sometimes known as "suicide mountain" in the winter, one must climb over steep ledges to reach the top.  There is a view to the southern Catskills on a yellow spur trail just south of the summit.  Usually this mountain is conquered as you hike the length of the Devil's Path but if you want to just hike this mountain by itself it is easiest to follow the Mink Hollow trail (from either end) until it intersects with the Devil's Path.  From there it is a pretty hefty climb to the top.
